Polish Prosecutor Charges Roman Ż., Ex-Partner of Missing BitBay/Zondacrypto Founder, With Fraud
Polish prosecutors have charged Roman Ż., a former business partner of missing BitBay/Zondacrypto founder Sylwester Suszek, with two counts including fraud. He was arrested last Saturday in Silesia and denies the allegations. The prosecutor obtained an arrest warrant after learning of his planned trip to China; his lawyer calls it a business trip with a return ticket on September 13. A court will decide on pretrial detention. The exchange, rebranded from BitBay to Zondacrypto in 2021, halted trading in April, with client losses estimated at at least 35 million zloty (≈$94 million). Estonia's financial intelligence unit partially suspended the license of the entity BB Trade Estonia OÜ. The probe into massive fraud and money laundering has received over 3,600 complaints by June. The case is now merged with the investigation into Suszek's disappearance in March 2022.
